Nick Baylis, Founder

I have spent my career in advertising and brand strategy. After a decade working at JWT, Colenso, and Saatchi & Saatchi I founded Generator in the mid-90s with three partners. Generator grew to be New Zealand’s largest independent Agency and was sold to the global Bates Network in 2000. following the sale, I joined FCB as CEO and then moved to be CEO of M&C Saatchi.

In 2009 I formed brandology in the belief that brands needed to define a single brand idea, enroll the entire organisation to live that brand, and deliver consistent behaviours to reinforce and build it.

Brands we have worked with span FMCG, Government, Automotive, Pharmaceutical/Nutraceutical, Agriculture/Horticulture/Viticulture, Retail, Tourism, Education, Financial Services, Hospitality, Event and Experience, Leadership and Development, Beverage, Construction, Industrial, Sport and Recreation, Environmental Services. Oil/Petroleum/Hydrogen, IT and Technology, Fishing, Transport and Heavy Machinery, Mental Health, and multiple charity and cause-related categories both in NZ and Internationally.

Given brandology’s philosophy is based on brand behaviour, I put my money where my mouth was and launched an FMCG brand with celebrity chef Simon Gault in 2011. We have a range of Stock Concentrates and the Flavour Shot range of pre-blended single-serve herbs and spices ranged nationally in Countdown and Foodstuffs.

In 2019, having worked with Farmlands for four years as brandology, I was offered the role of Director, Marketing and a member of the Leadership Team. I left in October 2021, following a change of CEO and reformed brandology.
